It is our infinite needs and desires that distinguish us from the rest of the inhabitants of the planet. While the lives of all the other species of the planet revolve around the basic needs of survival, ours go way beyond them.

The law of attraction is one of the most fundamental laws that govern the universe. It states that like attracts like. That means any given thing attracts other things that are like it. To understand it, you could compare it to how gravity works.

In the universe, astronomical objects are attracted to each other’s gravity. In the context of us humans, we attract things and situations into our lives that reflect how we think and feel.

So, in essence, we are the creators of our own lives. Using this knowledge, we can attract anything we want just by adjusting how we think and feel.

It may sound too good to be true and almost like having a magic wand that fulfils wishes. In a way it is, but it is something much deeper than that. It is the basis of creation itself.

For instance, we know that gravity exists and that any two objects are attracted to each other’s gravitational fields. But we don’t exactly understand why it happens. It’s just the way the universe is built. It just happens.

With time, groundbreaking discoveries might come along that could provide a solid scientific foundation for the law of attraction.

There’s one important thing to consider though. Just as you don’t need to understand how electricity works to benefit from it, you don’t need to understand how the law of attraction works to benefit from it either.

You can simply follow the many principles of it to manifest into the physical reality what you have always held intangibly in your mind.

How To Use The Law of Attraction

To be able to use the law of attraction, it is essential that one particular idea takes root in your mind. It’s that thoughts become things. What we think about the most is also what we attract the most in our lives.

Therefore, it can also be said that thoughts create our reality. Anyone who ponders on it a bit realises just how powerful that is.

In an abstract sense, too, this idea is quite relevant. We have achieved wonders in terms of technological progress, but every single piece of technology was just an idea in someone’s mind.

They then worked on it and gave it a real physical form for everybody to use. The LoA goes one step beyond that. It shifts things in reality to allow the manifestation of your most prominent thoughts.

Knowing this, you can begin to foster thoughts in your mind that get you your heart’s desires. There are three basic steps that you can follow to ensure that the universe brings to you what you want.

These steps might sound very simple, but they require quite a bit of practice to use effectively. You may have to work to change your mindset a bit before you can get started. The three steps are:

1.  Ask

Even though you might feel that you absolutely know what you want, that may not always be the case. It is in the mind’s nature to keep jumping from one thing to another.

One day you could desire one thing and the next day, you could desire something completely different. This needs to change if you want to take the first step towards manifesting those desires.

You need to be utterly clear about what you want. You need to be so clear about it you could visualise it happening or having already happened. It could be a single thing or even multiple things.

Obviously, this requires some getting used to as you might not be accustomed to creating a detailed image of what you want. This happens because many of our desires happen in the spur of the moment.

Anyway, only when you have the mental clarity, can you be laser-focused in your intention. It is important to remember that whatever you intend over time, tends to become a reality. The more attention you can direct on something, the faster it gets manifested.

The intensity of your attention is key. Initially, it might feel like indulging in wishful thinking but that’s just the logical part of your brain playing its tricks. It would be useful for you to ignore it for this step.

2.  Believe

This is probably the most important step and also the step where most give up or make mistakes. As stated earlier, the law of attraction says that like attracts like. So, to attract what you want, you have to be in perfect alignment with that desire.

One of the only ways to do that is by believing with all your heart that your desire will most definitely come true. This is where your mindset will really come into play.

This also entails having faith. Unshakeable and utter faith. This might be difficult, especially if your current reality is exactly the opposite of what you want to manifest. This is exactly the reason why most people can’t move beyond this step.

Sometimes, it’s just too hard to believe that something good will happen if all that you have experienced or are currently experiencing is bad.

Our brains are conditioned in a number of ways since our childhood and persistent exposure to unfavourable situations or tough times can lead us to believe that that is their default reality. In such cases, even the toughest minds can find it impossible to believe that their reality can indeed change for the better. The result?

They keep creating the same reality that they hate because it’s all they can think about and believe in.

If, however, you can muster up the courage to take responsibility for your life and feel in alignment with your desires, the universe will move mountains to make that happen.

Just remember to ward off any opposing beliefs. If you’re able to do that for a consistent period of time, you will see signs of change happening all around you, and that’s when you’ll know that it’s time for step three.

3.  Receive

This is perhaps a tricky step. If you’ve heard the old saying, “Fake it till you make it”, that’s what you basically have to do. What you need to figure out is how you would feel if what you desire actually happens.

You could close your eyes and imagine it happening to get a feel for it. Most people would feel happy and joyful that they got what they wanted. It is these feelings that need to be felt over and over again.

You need to bring your desires to the present and act as though they have already been fulfilled. That’s when the “like attracts like” actually happens. In essence, by feeling the feelings of having achieved your desires, you become one with the desire itself!

This is what spiritual gurus have been teaching for many years. Alignment is a pre-requisite for manifestation.

The biggest favour you can do yourself is to adopt a life of gratitude. That’s because when you feel grateful for things, you get more of the same.

So, if you feel gratitude for things you already have, they will multiply. And, if you feel gratitude for your desires (that haven’t yet materialised), they will be brought to you by the universe.

So basically, the final step requires you to feel good, even if you are feeling like you’re faking it. Sounds unintuitive, but if it works, it works!

What Can You Use It For

The law of attraction can be used to manifest any of your desires. Unless they break the laws of physics, that is. Even though different people have different desires and dreams, there are some common ones that most would like to see fulfilled.

Your health is your real wealth. It is the basis of everything that you do in your life. If you are blessed with good health, you will be able to go the extra mile to achieve your dreams.

Also, your life will be much more exuberant and there will be a general sense of satisfaction in your life.

Using the LoA, you can attract good health, if you have been struggling with it. You can follow the steps mentioned above and imagine that you are as healthy as a human can be.

Making a vision board requires you to decide what you want, find the pictures that match and put them up on a board that you can then hang on a wall.

Not only does it further illustrate what you want, but it also serves as a constant reminder of your dreams and desires. The more you see them, the more you think about them. The more you think about them, the faster you manifest.


Visualisation is a powerful technique to be in alignment with your desires. It requires you to either sit down in silence or lay down on your bed and just imagine having already achieved your desires.
